BVMI and GWVR renew frame agreement

The German Music Industry Association (BVMI) and the Gesellschaft zur Wahrnehmung von Veranstalterrechten (GWVR) have renewed their existing overall agreement on the licensing of event rights. The agreement forms the basis for the legally secure use of label content at public music events by event organizers in Germany.

The terms of the agreement largely correspond to the previous overall agreement. Both parties have merely agreed on a number of administrative simplifications.

René Houareau, Managing Director Legal & Policy at the BVMI: “The cooperation has proven its worth. Although there were some hurdles to overcome, it was ultimately possible to resolve outstanding issues with compromises that were acceptable to both sides.

“The labels are one of the most important partners for the promoters and we are pleased to continue and deepen our partnership in licensing,” comments Dr. Johannes Ulbricht, Managing Director of GWVR.

The new agreement comes into force with effect from 12.05.2025.
